Yeast Infection While Pregnant

Hi. I’m Darlene Messier. Even before I got pregnant with my first child, I had problems with yeast infections — specifically, vaginal yeast infections. Because I was very concerned about using any kind of prescription drugs, I tried a natural way of managing and treating my recurring yeast infections. It wasn’t easy. There wasn’t much information out there that helped me. But I started collecting the information that DID help me so that I could share that information with you on this page. And there are things that help very much.

WHAT IS THIS STUFF?

First of all, let’s be clear about what we are dealing with. Yeast infection can occur pretty much anywhere on your body — your skin, mouth, ears, vaginally and in males, on the penis and groin area — literally anywhere on your body but those places that stay warm and damp are prime spots for yeast infection. For all these infections, prescription drugs are available to deal with the problem. The problem with prescription drugs is that these primarily treat the symptoms but don’t really deal with the fundamental problem. And according to the FDA, Diflucan (Fluconazole) is known to cause birth defects.

So what is the cause and what is the symptom? That’s a really, really good question.

A symptom is the redness, inflammation and itching of a vaginal yeast infection. Actually, redness and inflammation are symptoms of oral, skin and penile infections as well.

What causes the redness and inflammation? What causes the itching? The presence of the growing yeast and the metabolic by-products of the yeast  is what causes everything: inflammation, redness and itching.

The yeast that infects your body, the yeast Candida Albicans, is really a non-event because Candid Albicans exists everywhere on your body — on your skin, in your intestines, under your arms, in your mouth — everywhere. This is not the problem. The problem is when this particular yeast organism grows uncontrollably and overwhelms other yeast and bacteria that also exist on your skin and in your digestive system. When this balance is disrupted, problems begin.

Yeasts as a family, need food to grow. Everything needs food to grow. When the food supply is shut down, the populations that feed on a particular food source begin to die off.

You will never be entirely candida albicans free. But,  you will be able to maintain candida albicans in its minimal populations as it should be with some very simple methods.
